Q-Flap NX II
The Q-Flap NX II is a certified passive isolation valve designed to prevent the propagation of deflagrations through ducts or pipelines. Built in accordance with NFPA 69, it provides reliable explosion isolation for process equipment handling combustible dusts.
Certified for both metal and organic dusts up to Class ST2, the Q-Flap NX II offers exceptional flexibility with installation in horizontal or vertical orientations, including counter-flow configurations. Available in sizes up to DN 1250, it ensures minimal pressure drop during normal operation while providing rapid, secure closure in the event of a deflagration—protecting downstream equipment and personnel from secondary explosions.
Application
The Q-Flap NX II is also perfectly suited, for the aspiration lines of filtering dust collectors, and for the suction intake lines of mills. The nominal pipe sizes up to DN 400 are primarily used for decentralized extraction systems in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, whereas nominal pipe sizes between DN 450 and DN 710 are also used for centralized dust extractors in the grain and food industry. Nominal pipe sizes from DN 800 to DN 1000 are used in the wood and heavy industry.
Mechanism
During normal operation the aerodynamic flap blade is held open at an incline with internal rare-earth magnets. In the event of an explosion the advancing pressure wave causes the flap to release, pivot closed and lock. This seals off the upstream area from a propagating fireball and explosion pressure effects.
- Quick maintenance without the need for a complete dismantling of the device, simply by completely opening the inspection cover.
- Optionally: longer maintenance intervals by integrating a supervision function.
- No boundaries: Q-Flap NX II available up to DN 1250 and can be installed in any orientation, in push or pull flow with up to 3 elbows.
